Junior Cycle Maths
By studying Project Maths at Junior Cycle students will develop problem-solving skills and their ability to present logical arguments. It enables students to use what they have learned, in class, in real life situations in everyday life and work.
In the Junior Cycle, a more investigative approach is used which builds on and extends students’ experiences of Mathematics in Primary School. This allows students to appreciate how Maths relates to daily life and to the world of work.

Maths at Junior Cycle focuses on further developing the mathematical knowledge, skills and understanding, which students have gained from primary school, applying maths to real life situations, developing problem-solving skills and fostering a positive attitude to maths. This syllabus is for first, second and third year students in post-primary education.
The syllabus is provided at three levels – Higher, Ordinary and Foundation level and is also assessed at these levels. All First Year students study a Common Introductory Course before choosing what level to follow.

Senior Cycle Maths
Project Maths provides students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of, and familiarity with, different areas of Mathematics, as well as developing their overall appreciation of the subject. These different areas have applications in everyday life and provide a foundation for further education. There is more emphasis on the student’s understanding of key concepts. Maths problems are given in context and allow the students to investigate and explore mathematical ideas.
